What if...
...you could keep one hundred percent of your paycheck, tax free?

No
one likes paying taxes. Most people assume at least a certain amount of
taxation is necessary. We don't. Think about it. Can you think of
anything any level of government currently does with your money that
you couldn't get done for less, with better quality, some other way? We
have detailed discussions of how this would look, but for purposes of argument here, assume this is true.
How
much of a difference would it make in your life to have 100% of your
earnings in your paycheck? Sure, you'd have more expenses because you'd
have to pay directly for everything you get from the government now,
but if you could have better quality roads, with no traffic congestion,
and pay a little less than the tax dollars pay for the same "service"
now, how would that change your life?
The State pays your school
district thousands of dollars for your child to be educated in the
public schools. You pay thousands more in property taxes on top of
that. How would your child's education be different if you had your
property taxes, plus your share of state "aid" to the local schools to
spend on tuition at the school of your choice?
Having to do the
due diligence in finding the best school or the best driving route or
the best (fill in the blank) may seem overwhelming to think about until
you remember (if you're old enough) what we thought when the phone
company was broken up. I couldn't imagine how it would work to have
several different phone companies, to have to choose a long distance
company, etc. But now, who would go back to the old system. Instead of
paying $40 per month for local service and potentially hundreds for
long distance, we now can get a flat rate unlimited calling plan for
$40. And that's just the result of breaking up a private monopoly. What
about all the things your taxes pay for that could be eliminated all
together?
But as long as the government has the power to tax,
they have no incentive to economize. On the other hand, if private
companies were competing for your highway dollars or your school
dollars or your (fill in the blank) dollars, how much would quality
improve and market cost decrease? If you're still not convinced, write us and we'll try to answer your questions and concerns.
