Send the big guys a bill for a change.

The new emphasis on alternative energy, late in coming as it may be, is a golden opportunity for the cause of liberty. Any individual citizen can install solar collectors and wind turbines in the backyard, on the roof, wherever, on your property and supply your own needs for electricity. In many cases you will generate more electricity than you will need. In that case, you can sell the power you create to the "grid" and get a check from ComEd or National Grid instead of a bill.

Too good to be true? Hardly. A French built wind-turbine designed specifically for back-yard residential use can be had for less than $500.

Also, a solar system may cost somewhat more, but will pay for itself quickly.

So will we grouse about what the government will do to get into the alternative energy mode, or when, or how... or take matters into our own hands and create our own power companies?

American ingenuity and self-reliance will triumph again.
